Policies

Lessons can be booked as individual sessions, a once-weekly subscription, or a twice-weekly subscription.

Prices shown at checkout include any applicable taxes. Payments are processed securely by Stripe using the payment methods shown at checkout. Your booking is confirmed after payment has been successfully completed.

If a payment fails or cannot be processed, I will contact you using the email address associated with your account and issue a manual invoice for the outstanding amount. Any lessons or credits that have already been paid for remain valid and may still be used as scheduled. Lessons associated with the failed payment cannot take place until the outstanding amount has been paid.

Lessons are subject to availability. You may book any available lesson time shown on the booking system.

If you have a dedicated weekly subscription time, you may change your regular lesson time when another suitable time is available. You may also switch to using your subscription credits flexibly if you no longer need a fixed weekly slot.

A regular weekly time is subject to availability and may need to be changed if my availability changes.

Lessons are usually held online through Google Meet. Your confirmation email will include the information needed to join. Please join on time and use a reliable internet connection, webcam, and microphone where possible.

Lessons begin and end at their scheduled times. If you arrive late, the lesson will still end at its scheduled time. If you do not join within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, the lesson may be treated as a no-show.

If a technical issue on my side prevents a lesson from taking place, I will arrange a suitable replacement lesson or another appropriate solution. Technical issues on your side that prevent the lesson from taking place are treated in accordance with the normal cancellation and no-show policy.

You may reschedule or cancel a lesson at no charge up to 12 hours before its scheduled start time. Cancellations or changes requested within 12 hours of a lesson use the lesson credit because teaching time is reserved specifically for you.

Rescheduling is intended for occasional changes rather than as a regular alternative to attending your scheduled weekly time. If lessons are frequently rescheduled, I may ask you to choose a different regular lesson time or switch to using your subscription credits flexibly instead.

If you do not attend a scheduled lesson, it is treated as a no-show and the lesson credit is used. This applies when I am present and ready to provide the scheduled lesson. If I cannot provide the lesson, or an issue on my side prevents it from taking place, the lesson will be rescheduled or the credit restored.

Please reschedule or cancel your lessons via the Student Portal. If that is not possible, contact iida@studysuomi.fi as soon as you can.

If I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson at short notice, or if I miss a scheduled lesson, the lesson credit will be fully restored. I may also provide an additional lesson credit or other appropriate compensation for the inconvenience caused.

Purchased lesson and subscription credits are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Any unused credits expire after that period.

Credits added manually, for example as a goodwill adjustment or replacement lesson, are valid for one year from the date they are issued.

Once-weekly subscriptions provide four lesson credits every 28 days. Twice-weekly subscriptions provide eight lesson credits every 28 days. Subscriptions renew automatically every 28 days until they are cancelled.

The reduced subscription lesson rate applies because you are purchasing a complete 28-day package of four or eight lessons. It is a package rate, not a pay-as-you-go price for individual lessons.

You may choose a dedicated weekly time slot, subject to availability. You may change your regular weekly time when another suitable time is available. If you no longer need a fixed weekly slot, you may switch to using your subscription credits flexibly to book available lesson times.

You may cancel your subscription at any time to stop future renewals. Cancellation takes effect for future renewal periods and does not by itself create a cash refund for unused lessons in the current paid 28-day period. Credits already issued remain available until their stated expiry date.

Purchased lesson credits and subscription payments are generally non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law. A change of plans, unused credits, a missed lesson, a late cancellation, or deciding that you no longer need the lessons does not by itself entitle you to a cash refund.

Where a refund is approved for unused lessons from a subscription during an active 28-day period, any lessons already used during that period will be charged at the applicable individual lesson rate rather than the reduced subscription rate. The subscription discount applies only to the complete subscription package. The refund will therefore be calculated by deducting the applicable individual lesson rate for all lessons already used during the subscription period from the amount originally paid, with the remaining balance refunded.

If you no longer wish to use your lesson credits, you may transfer unused credits to another student by contacting me. Transferring credits does not extend their expiry date, and the transferred credits remain subject to the same applicable terms as the original credits.

Please make sure that your contact and account information is accurate and that you check your booking confirmations and other important communications. You can change your contact information in your Student Portal.

You are responsible for attending your scheduled lessons, having the equipment and internet connection needed for online lessons, and making any changes to your bookings within the applicable time limits.

Lessons are expected to remain respectful and appropriate. Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, harassing, or otherwise seriously inappropriate behaviour towards me or others is not acceptable.

If this occurs, I may end a lesson early, cancel future bookings, suspend or terminate access to my services, or take other appropriate action. In such circumstances, unused lesson credits or subscription payments may be non-refundable.

Where you purchase access to a digital course or other online learning materials, access is for your personal use only. Your account and course access may not be shared with other people.

Course materials, exercises, audio, text, videos, and other original content provided by StudySuomi may not be copied, reproduced, redistributed, resold, published, or made available to others without my permission.

I regularly update and improve the course to keep the content current and to reflect changes in relevant information, language use, and YKI test requirements.

If course content or access is shared, redistributed, copied, or otherwise made available to other people without my permission, I reserve the right to suspend or withdraw access to the course and associated account without refund.

YKI course access does not expire, provided that your account remains in good standing and the course access is not suspended or withdrawn under these policies. This includes cases where course content or account access is shared, copied, redistributed, or otherwise made available to others without my permission.

If you experience a technical problem accessing the course or its materials, please contact me so I can help resolve the issue.

I use the personal information you provide to respond to enquiries, arrange and provide lessons, manage student accounts and credits, process and administer payments, communicate with you about your bookings and lessons, and operate and secure my services.

This may include your name, email address, lesson schedule, learning-related notes you choose to share, account activity, and transaction-related information. Payment card details are processed by Stripe. I may receive information relating to your payment, such as the amount, payment status, and limited billing or transaction information. Lesson scheduling, communication, and meeting information may be processed through Google services and other service providers where necessary to operate the website and provide my services.

Your personal information is treated as private and is used only for purposes connected with providing and managing my services, maintaining your account, processing and administering payments, communicating with you, meeting legal or administrative obligations, and keeping the service secure. I do not sell your personal information or use it for unrelated purposes.

You should feel comfortable speaking openly during your lessons. Anything you discuss with me during a lesson is treated as private and confidential and will not be shared with other students or used publicly without your permission, except where disclosure is required by law. This includes personal experiences, opinions, questions, mistakes, and other information you choose to discuss as part of your learning.

I take reasonable steps to keep your information and lesson-related communications secure and to limit access to what is necessary for providing and operating the service. Information may be shared with service providers that I use to operate the business, such as payment, website, scheduling, communication, hosting, or email providers, where necessary for them to provide those services. Your information will not be sold or used for unrelated marketing, advertising, or other purposes.

Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and for any applicable legal, accounting, tax, security, or record-keeping requirements.

I may update these policies from time to time to reflect changes to my services, pricing, systems, or business practices. For one-off purchases, the policies in effect at the time of purchase apply to that purchase. Updated policies may apply to future subscription renewal periods after reasonable notice where appropriate.

If a significant change materially affects an active subscription, I will provide reasonable notice where appropriate.
